Help if you are overweight:
IBeing overweight or obese can affect nearly every part of your body,
increasing your risks of having a heart attack, developing diabetes and having
high blood pressure. Being overweight can also increase your chances of
- breathing problems
- gall bladder problems
- some cancers
- aching joints & osteoarthritis
- back pain
- sleep difficulties & snoring
- infertility
- sweating
- difficulties in walking
The good news is that losing (and keeping off) an achievable 5-10% of your
body weight can really help. (5-10% means 1-2 stone for a 20 stone person, 8-16
lb for a 12 stone person)
Studies have shown that, this much weight loss has many benefits:
- reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some cancers
- lower high blood pressure
- improved control of blood sugar levels in people with diabetes
- reduced risk of angina
- improved blood cholesterol levels
- and eased lower back and joint pain
