Help if you are overweight:

IBeing overweight or obese can affect nearly every part of your body, increasing your risks of having a heart attack, developing diabetes and having high blood pressure.  Being overweight can also increase your chances of

  • breathing problems
  • gall bladder problems
  • some cancers
  • aching joints & osteoarthritis
  • back pain
  • sleep difficulties & snoring
  • infertility
  • sweating
  • difficulties in walking

The good news is that losing (and keeping off) an achievable 5-10% of your body weight can really help. (5-10% means 1-2 stone for a 20 stone person, 8-16 lb for a 12 stone person)

Studies have shown that, this much weight loss has many benefits:
  • reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and some cancers
  • lower high blood pressure
  • improved control of blood sugar levels in people with diabetes
  • reduced risk of angina
  • improved blood cholesterol levels
  • and eased lower back and joint pain
